Game Overview

There are some true mysteries around the world that people continue to debate, like does Bigfoot exist? Are aliens walking amongst us? And is there such a thing as the Loch Ness Monster? Now, whilst I can’t say for certain if any of those are true or not, I do know they can be used as inspiration for an online slot, and that’s precisely what we’re faced with today as Pragmatic Play thrusts upon us their Big Bass & The Gold Ness Monster slot, a 5-reel game with 10 fixed paylines, a free spins bonus, and a maximum win of 5,000x.

Theme & Design

The Big Bass franchise continues to grow, and whenever I see a new title added to the series, I always wonder what spin they are going to put on it this time and where the jolly fisherman is going to end up on his travels. But I must admit, I didn’t see the whole Scottish and Nessie theme coming, but here we are, with the usual high level of graphics from Pragmatic and Reel Kingdom, but, of course, plenty of recycled mechanics, too.

We’ll take a look through the features shortly, but before we do, I’ll give you a couple of games to try out in this series, just in case you’re unfamiliar with them. Okay, to kick things off, I’ll take you back to the start with our Big Bass Bonanza demo, but if you want to try one of the more popular games in the collection, then the Big Bass Splash demo is where you want to be heading.

Big Bass & The Gold Ness Monster Gameplay & Features

Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass & The Gold Ness Monster is a 5-reel, 3-row online slot game with 10 fixed paylines and a high RTP of 98%. The game provides players with all budgets the chance to spin the reels, with stakes starting from as little as €0.10 and reaching up to a staggering €250 a press.

We’re finally at the gameplay, and like most of the slots in the Big Bass series, the base game lacks any real bite, with a respin bonus on two scatters landing in view being your only source of entertainment, and obviously an extra shot at getting into the free spins bonus, too.

Speaking of which, this is triggered when 3, 4, or 5 scatters land in view, awarding 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. Before the bonus begins, you’re given 12 cards to choose from, where revealing the word ‘bonus’ will trigger the standard free spins, whilst revealing the Gold Ness Monster will award the Gold Ness free spins.

Both of the bonuses require you to land fisherman simultaneously with the fish to be awarded their values, with every 4th fisherman collected increasing your win multiplier and awarding extra free spins. However, in the Gold Ness free spins, only fish values, fishermen, and blank symbols will be present on the reels.

Bonus Buy

Those wishing to play with a greater risk can choose from the following enhanced betting options.

  • Ante Bet: Increased chance of triggering a bonus: Costs 1.5x the base bet.
  • Standard Free Spins: Costs 100x the base bet.
  • Gold Ness Free Spins: Costs 270x the base bet.

Pros

  • The usual high level of game design and graphics.
  • High RTP.
  • Fans of the franchise will be glad to see yet another release.

Cons

  • Another game in the series which doesn't differ much from previous releases.
  • Low max win of 5,000x.

Big Bass & The Gold Ness Monster Slot Review Final Thoughts

Big Bass and the Gold Ness Monster might come with an inflated return to player percentage, but it's much of what we have seen countless times before, so after a few bonus buys in our demo slot, I'm fairly certain you'll be moving on to something else.
