Game Overview

I’m beginning to think that for every celebration held worldwide, we’re likely to see the Big Bass franchise incorporate it into their games at some point. I actually thought Halloween had already been covered by the guys at Reel Kingdom/Pragmatic Play, but alas, that wasn’t the case, so here we have the Big Bass Halloween slot for you to take a look at. A quick cast of our eyes over the stats tells us this is a 5-reel slot game with 10 fixed paylines and an RTP of 96.04%

It initially looks like this Halloween version of Big Bass is a straight-up clone of the original slot game. So, there are no modifiers or bonuses in the base game. The action is all reserved for the free spins feature, which is triggered when a minimum of three scatter symbols land in view. Whilst this bonus is active, all Fisherman symbols that land simultaneously with the fish cash symbols collect their respective values and add them to your balance. Additionally, for every 4th Fisherman that hits, you’ll cause the bonus to re-trigger, where more spins and a win multiplier are added.

You’ve probably played every other variation of the Big Bass series, so why not give this one a blast, too? We’ve added a free Big Bass Halloween slot demo below, so you can tick this one off as being played. It’s ready to try below.

Big Bass Halloween Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Big Bass Halloween Paytable
Big Bass Halloween paytable

Such has been the success of the Big Bass franchise of slot games; there are now scores of other game providers releasing their own fishing themed games to the market. The fascination with this style of slot began years ago when Blueprint Gaming released Fishin Frenzy, but when the first Big Bass Bonanza slot hit, it reignited this niche of game ten-fold, and currently, any online casino lobby you enter will be stacked with slots featuring the kind of mechanic used in the bonus round on these games. It does appear as though we’re going to go through the motions with the Big Bass Halloween slot, however, as there seems to be nothing new or remotely exciting in it that we haven’t seen before.

Let’s begin at the paytable and the highest value symbol in the game is the Life Ring, which pays 200x the bet for a winning combo of five. This is followed by the Hook worth 100x, with the Raven next at 50x, then a Tacklebox paying 50x, and the shoal of fish finishing off the premium section, awarding 20x bet for a completed line of five. The industry standard royal symbols represent the low pays, where the Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten all share equal payouts of 10x for a five-of-a-kind hit. There is also the inclusion of a Wild symbol, which is the Fisherman. However, he will only appear during the free spin bonus.

We have a stack of bet sizes on offer for players to choose from, with the minimum stake starting at €0.10 whilst the maximum bet reaches €250. Whether or not the range between these values will be reduced in real money play, we’ll have to wait and see, but in the demo version, there are over 50 options you can pick to play at between these values, which I have to say is pretty impressive.

Big Bass Halloween Slot Base Game

With a reel matrix of 5×3, the Big Bass Halloween slot game features 10 fixed paylines in the base game and the bonus feature. You can grab yourself a win by landing three matching symbols on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost reel first. Of course, the win must also span one of the 10 active lines.

Ante Bet

You can choose to activate the Ante Bet mode, where, for the additional cost of 50% on top of your original bet, there is an extra chance that scatter symbols will land.

Big Bass Halloween Slot Bonus Features

Big Bass Halloween Free Spins Feature

You’ll find bonus scatter symbols on all of the game’s five reels, and landing 3, 4, or 5 in view will trigger the main feature and award 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively.

Free Spins Feaure

The Fisherman symbol can now appear on all five reels during the free spin feature. Not only will he act as a wild symbol, but each time he lands simultaneously with the Fish Cash Symbols, he will reel in their amounts, which will be added to your balance. If more than one Fisherman lands at the same time, they will all collect any cash values displayed. Furthermore, every Fisherman that hits will move you one position along the Progressive Meter above the reels. Every 4th Fisherman that lands will activate a re-trigger where 10 extra spins are awarded and a win multiplier that can reach 10x if you make it to the final stage.

Bonus Buy

Those keen to skip the base game and enter the free spins feature instantly can do so courtesy of the bonus buy option. Utilising this element of the slot game will cost you 100x your current bet.

Pros

  • If you're a fan of the series, this one will also no doubt float your bloat.

Cons

  • The maximum win of 2,100x is very low compared to games in the franchise.
  • Nothing new has been added other than a change of theme.

Big Bass Halloween Slot Review Final Thoughts

There we have it then, slot enthusiasts; other than a few changed symbols and a slightly darker theme to fit in with the whole Halloween thing, this is just a copy of the original slot that was released. Whilst this might be a win for some players out there, and yes, the mechanics of the game are as fun as they always have been, I can't really see any point in playing Big Bass Halloween at all other than just to say, yeah, I tried it once.
