Game Overview
When I first saw Banana Town, I felt certain this must be a Thunderkick game – the graphical style is identical to that of their Flame Busters slot from several years ago! That’s not the case, however; this is a Relax Gaming production and one I think you’re going to be very interested in playing, too! Vital stats are RTP 96.12%, scatter pays, and a maximum win of 10,000x your bet per spin. Spicy!
The game contains a unique multiplier upgrade feature that attaches multipliers to each individual symbol. This multiplier will upgrade each time the symbol is involved in a win, or sometimes the game will throw you a bone – either way, it’s a great thing as the maximum symbol multiplier is 64x! You’ve got the typical free spins bonus round too, and all of your current multiplier values are carried over to the bonus and can continue being multiplied further. You can’t argue with that – the question is, does the free spins bonus have INCREASED chances of hitting additional multipliers? I’ll let you know soon.

Banana Town Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Am I really supposed to compare the theme of the Banana Town slot game with something else? Isn’t that a bit of an unrealistic request? In terms of graphical style, it’s almost identical to Flame Busters by Thunderkick, as I mentioned previously, but apart from that… hmmm. I know! Gangster Town on the Sega Master System has a similar name and is just like this slot in that it features people randomly standing around whilst another guy traverses six reels… I think they called them “levels” for some reason in that game … and the multipliers are analogous to the increasing difficulty of each level! Yes! I bet Banana Town is totally inspired by Gangster Town. That’s my best attempt. Sorry.
This game uses the scatter pays mechanic, which has shown up in a few titles over the past few months and appears to be gaining popularity. This payout mechanic means that you get paid for the number of matching symbols which appear on screen regardless of where they are – just count up your guys, and away you go! Except each of your guys has a multiplier attached to them, making the numbers shown on the paytable kind of pointless – you will very rarely receive these amounts. Still, here they are for your convenience…

The red and yellow bananas have matching payouts of 0.5x/1x/3x, whilst the green and blue bananas pay 0.5x/1x/2x. These numbers aren’t too bad, especially when you consider that the winning symbols are removed from the board each time you win, the multiplier for the winning symbol(s) is doubled, and you get a free re-spin. The only trouble is that hitting even eight matching symbols seems very difficult despite the sizeable 6×5 playfield with 30 spaces. This game delivers a HUGE number of dead spins, which is a little disappointing if I’m honest.
Wager selection is well thought out; you can use the plus and minus buttons to move between the minimum bet of €0.10 per spin and the maximum of €50.00 per spin, or clicking on the area between the two buttons opens a convenient dropdown menu where you can more easily move between different bet sizes.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game action takes place on a 6×5 grid. At the start of each spin, one or more random multipliers may be assigned to the various paying symbols of the game, giving you a potentially lucky start – in my experience, it doesn’t often work out that way. As mentioned previously, you can expect lots and lots of dead spins from this game, as hitting eight of any one particular symbol is much more difficult than you may think.
Multiplier upgrade Feature
Each time you hit a winning combination, the winning symbol will have its multiplier doubled before the winning symbols are removed from the game board, and a free re-spin is awarded. If you happen to win again, this process repeats, adding more multiplier symbols to your game. If the same symbol happens to land again, its value will double for a second time before the game continues. Unfortunately, your multipliers are lost at the end of your winning cascade.
Banana Town Slot Bonus Feature
The bonus round is triggered by hitting three or more bonus symbols; you can hit these on your initial spin or, preferably, after a few winning spins have already taken place and you have achieved a few decent multipliers on your symbols. This is because the current value of your multipliers is carried across to the free spins feature.
The free spins bonus feature is where the big money can be won – as is often the way with online slots. Your current multipliers are carried across to the bonus round, and you keep your multipliers in between free spins. Better yet, you can add additional free spins to your counter by hitting bonus symbols during this round. I managed to get some of my symbols up to 32x during this mode, with the best win during testing being over 1,500x my stake – that’s pretty impressive in my eyes and definitely makes me want to play this game for real money!
Also, for whatever reason, it seems MUCH easier to hit eight or more matching symbols during the bonus round, and bonus symbols will appear very regularly, too, meaning you are pretty likely to add at least five more free spins to your counter as the bonus progresses.
Bonus Buy Feature
If you’re eager to get into the bonus round without triggering the feature organically, then you can utilise the bonus buy option on the game. If this option is active in your location, you can access the bonus immediately for the cost of 100x your stake.
Banana Town Slot Review Final Thoughts
I’m not sure what the reason was for the 8-bit graphics look, but for some reason, I like it. The base game could maybe have done with a little more – the multiplier feature is excellent, of course, but because they are lost in between spins (except during the bonus game), they don’t add a lot to the base gameplay.
This one is all about the free spins, so if you can use the bonus buy feature in your region, I feel like it’s a bargain at 100x your stake. I expect to see lots of massive hits on this game on YouTube in the coming weeks! It’s going to be a huge hit.
