Game Overview
Welcome back to the Foxium Cinematic Universe, where are our band of heroic… umm, heroes are today searching for Andvari – otherwise known as The Magic Ring! I’ve heard it called some rather more ‘unique’ terms than that before, let me tell you, but props to Foxium for being a family-friendly slot developer… I guess! Of course, no quest would be complete without an EPIC grand prize – in this case, it’s a rather cool – if not outstanding – 5,000x the player’s total bet. And how do you locate this EPIC prize? By battling against the odds of a 96.05% RTP and 1,024 payways, of course!
Just as an epic quest needs an EPIC prize, it also needs a bunch of epic features; I’m sure you will agree! In this game, said features include the world’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, Ferris… only messing, of course, no, Andvari: The Magic Ring includes bonus symbols with cash prizes of between 1x and 25x your total bet, a three-spin feature dubbed ‘Lock&Win’ (complete with power-up addons!) and of course… the world’s tallest and fastest Ferris Wheel! Ah, I had you for a moment, didn’t I! It turns out it isn’t entirely a joke – the ‘magic wheel’, as Foxium calls it, is activated by filling the progress bar displayed above the playfield and can award one of five jackpots or smaller prizes ranging between 10x and 40x the total bet. The ‘magic ring’ theme continues with a free spins wheel and a ‘gamble and mystery wheel’ – what do they do? Keep reading to find out! Oh, and of course – what would any adventure be without a shortcut? Yup, a bonus buy facility is all present and correct for you guys who don’t like to follow the yellow brick road!
So, shall we go on a quest to locate the magic ring together? Preferably several magic rings if possible… I’m a shy kind of guy, you know! Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, however, we love you all the same here at Demoslot – so go ahead and fire up our free demo slot of Andvari: The Magic Ring as your heart desires!
Andvari The Magic Ring Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’ve already fleshed out the theme of Andvari: The Magic Ring pretty accurately, I’d say, during those opening paragraphs, so let’s take a brief diversion for a moment to investigate some of Foxium’s other recent output, shall we? Oink Farm wasn’t bad, scoring 7.7 when my colleague reviewed it some time ago. He knows his stuff, too; I’d say – 23 years of gambling experience mean he’s probably played more slots than I’ve had magic rings! Cossacks: The Wild Hunt was a good blast, too, so much so that I rated it 8.8 in my review – perhaps I was a little kinder than the other reviewer, however! Just one more for your viewing pleasure – Four Masks of Inca, which I rated in between the two previous titles at 8..0. Why not give them all a try for yourself and see what you make of them?
So, how much do the regular symbols pay during our magical ring quest? Well, the ring itself is worth 10x the total bet for a full payway of five of a kind, whilst the potion bottle will get you 5x the total bet for all five. There’s a rather strange wooden carving… with horns? Whatever it’s meant to be, it definitely pays you 4x the bet for a complete payway, whilst the final high-paying symbol I an old-fashioned scroll – I’m guessing that it’s a map, as there’s an ‘X’ prominently visible on it, and as all good treasure hunters know, X marks the spot! So that’s where the magic ring is! No wonder I’ve had so little luck finding it! Moving swiftly on then, the low-paying symbols offer returns of 1.75x for all five aces, 1.5x for five kings, 1.25x for the queens, and finally, 1x for all five jacks. I guess getting your bet back is better than nothing, but I’m definitely glad that Foxium has decided to stack the symbols on the reels of this machine!
Changing your bet amount will warn you that you are about to forego any collectables you have acquired so far, but don’t worry – they are still waiting for you when you return to your previous wager amount. The minimum/maximum permitted bets are €0.20 and €20.00 per spin, respectively, and with such a small range, I feel that the 16 possible betting levels are adequate in this case.
Base Game & Modifiers
One issue with a game such as this one is where do you classify all of the different bonus features – I’d say very few of them belong here in the base game section; there are certainly no modifiers to discuss. The game takes place on a five-column, four-row playfield, with a spinning wheel on the right-hand side featuring the various jackpots – referred to on the paytable as the Magic Wheel. Let’s talk about that one here then.
Magic Wheel
Fill the progress bar along the top of the playfield to activate the magic wheel. To do this, you’ll need to accumulate the bonus symbols that land during many game rounds. It takes a lot of bonus symbols to fill the meter, and changing your stake will also change your progress to wherever you were up to the last time you played at that specific stake.
Fill the progress bar, and you’ll get the chance to spin the wheel and, therefore, a shot at one of the many prizes. There are segments for the five jackpots – detailed below – as well as 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, and 40x cash prizes.
Jackpot Prizes (Available Via Lock’n’win & Magic Wheel)
The five jackpot prizes have the following cash values:
- MINI – 50x Stake
- MINOR – 100x Stake
- MAJOR – 250x Stake
- GRAND – 1,000x Stake
- EPIC – 5,000x Stake
Bonus Rounds
Three magic coin symbols can either award a ‘magic prize’ or a cash prize – the cash prizes seem to have fixed values of 1x, 5x, or 25x, whilst the magic prizes – I honestly have no idea!
Andvari The Magic Ring Slot Bonus Features
Andvari: The Magic Wheel is packed full of bonus features – here’s a brief overview of each of them:
Free Spins
Landing all three of the scatter symbols present on reels one, three, and five will trigger a spin of the free spins wheel. The wheel contains segments for 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 free spins – unfortunately, there are two segments for 10 spins, dramatically increasing the odds of that being the one you will land on. Nevertheless, the free spins can also be re-triggered, so you may get lucky and win up to 60 of them!
Lock’n’ Win
Landing six or more bonus symbols during a single game round will activate the game’s Lock & Win feature, as well as adding them to your progress bar. Three re-spins are awarded, and all symbols except the bonus symbol are removed from the reel set. Every time a bonus symbol lands, your re-spin count is reset to three. The feature ends when your re-spin count expires or the entire playfield is filled with bonus symbols.
The Lock’N’Win reels do contain a couple of power-ups as well – the Lock’N’Win multiplier upgrade symbol will instantly multiply all on-screen cash values by up to 10x their original value, whilst the magic prize upgrade power-up will increase the value of all magic prizes by one-tier.
Gamble & Mystery Wheel
When winning the free spins wheel, you’ll first be given the option to trigger your free spin bonus round for additional spins or a mystery prize – the cash prizes can be worth up to 100x of the total bet, which seems like a pretty poor deal to me. Then again, that is the ‘bad’ outcome (increased free spins are the good one), so I guess it could be worse!
Bonus Buy
Want to try the game’s best wheel features straight away? Then you’re in luck! The free spin wheel can be purchased for the rather odd price of 55.02x the current stake, whilst the magic wheel (complete with jackpot prizes) is cheaper at just 33.24x the total bet – I know which one I’d probably veer towards!
Pros
- More features than you can shake a stick at!
- Respectable top win of 10,000x the total bet
- Includes a map of the location of the magic ring!
Cons
- Whilst there are plenty of features, none of them seem particularly lucrative. This is probably the result of the RTP being spread a little too thinly.
- The paytable prizes aren’t all that exciting.
Final Thoughts
I have to say, I think I may have over-rated a couple of Foxium’s previous releases as this one is definitely a better machine – yet I’d still rate it less than the 8.8 I scored their Cossack-themed slot. The presentation is absolutely top-notch though, and it runs like a dream on all of my devices too – buttery smooth animation, first-class artwork, and tasteful sound. In short, there’s a lot to like about Andvari: The Magic Ring, and I’d recommend slots fans give it a try.
