That sounds like an epic adventure to me, and after the game had finished loading, I was further impressed by the high quality of the presentation. The graphics are excellently drawn, whilst the sound is mostly atmospheric and unobtrusive rather than a monotonously short musical loop. There are 20 fixed paylines on which to score your wins, whilst the RTP of 96.02% is very close to the industry average. Just as I was finishing up writing this review, I spotted some tiny lettering at the bottom of one page of the paytable stating that the maximum win from a single round is 15,000 coins – if my math is correct, this translates to just 750x the total stake.
The nine in the title of this slot isn’t just an arbitrary number, as it relates to the scatter-pay prizes, which are displayed on a chart to the left of the main reel set. The scatter-pay prizes offered in some games are enormous, but iSoftBet has kept things much more grounded here with a top prize of 100x. A pearl re-spin feature is available, which can significantly increase your odds of hitting the scatter-pay prizes. 9 Pearls Of Fortune Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The oceans make up more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface area, so it stands to reason that such a vast area has plenty of stories to tell! There are endless examples of popular culture set on top of the sea, perhaps based around pirates or naval battles, as well as in the depths below. One of my all-time favourite online slots – Playtech’s Great Blue – is an excellent example of the genre, although it’s getting a little long in the tooth these days. Everything was looking great up to this point, but alarm bells started ringing when I first began checking out the paytable. The highest-paying symbols are the yellow fish and the wild, which both have a return of only 5x your bet – surprisingly low for a 20-payline game. The Stingray is worth only 3x the current stake for a full payline of five of a kind, while the crab drops to 1.5x for all five symbols. The sea horse will pay 1x your bet for a complete payline, after which there are just four royals with payouts ranging from 0.3x to 0.8x your bet for five of a kind. These returns are slightly disappointing if I’m honest, but all symbols do at least appear in stacks which makes it much more likely that you will win on multiple paylines at once.
Most of iSoftBet’s games use the same wager selection method whereby you choose a coin size to determine your overall stake. In 9 Pearls of Fortune, the available coin sizes range between a €0.01 and €1.00 to give overall minimum/maximum bets of €0.20 and €20.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The main reel set used in 9 Pearls of Fortune is your common-or-garden five reel, three row setup, and the 20 fixed paylines are also about as average as things come. Not every slot needs to use a huge playfield to be fun or interesting, and the standard layout doesn’t take away from the game’s appeal in this particular title.
Bubbly Modifier
If I’m honest, this isn’t much of a modifier, but it is randomly activated, and iSoftBet has labelled it as a modifier on the paytable. The bubbly modifier can trigger at the start of any paid spin, potentially adding enough scatter symbols to award either the pearl re-spins or free spin features.
9 Pearls Of Fortune Slot Bonus Features
Two special features are included in 9 Pearls of Fortune, each triggered by a different set of scatter symbols. The pearl symbol appears on reels two, three, and four only, whilst the bonus chests appear only on one, three, and five. You need to hit all three scatters in both cases to win the corresponding bonus round.
Pearl Respins Feature
This feature has an “s” at the end of “re-spins”, but during my testing, I sometimes only received a single re-spin which was a little bit disappointing. You’ll need to land at least one pearl on each re-spin to trigger another; otherwise, the bonus will end.
Each pearl that lands on the special 3×3 reel set used in this feature will award a cash prize of 1x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, or 100x your total bet. When the feature completes, you will also receive an additional prize corresponding to the number of pearls you have collected.
Free Spins
The pearl re-spins are a nice break from regular gameplay, but the free spins feature has the real big win potential in this game. Before the feature begins, a bonus wheel will be displayed with segments for various numbers of spins and accompanying multipliers.
The lowest prize on offer here is ten free spins with a 2x multiplier, but if you are lucky, you can potentially win up to 15 free spins with a far more exciting 5x multiplier. The best part of this is that the pearl re-spins feature is still available whilst the free spins are in play, and the multiplier selected here will also be applied to your re-spin winnings.
In the opening paragraph, I mentioned that the paytable states a maximum winnings cap of 15,000 coins per round; I started to doubt my math at this point, as it seems this feature should be able to pay out significantly more than this. It’s a shame that the developer hasn’t clarified the top win that can be achieved more clearly than this.
Bonus Buy
The free spins feature is by far the most profitable part of 9 Pearls of Fortune, so I was surprised to see that you can purchase a bonus round for just 50x the regular price of a spin. If you can take advantage of this facility, then I would do so – the low cost makes this an absolute bargain, in my opinion!
9 Pearls Of Fortune Slot Review Final Thoughts
I can’t find much to fault in 9 Pearls of Fortune other than the minor issue around determining the actual top win available in the game. This is a small presentation issue which can be easily rectified, however, and certainly is not something which will affect your enjoyment of the game.
