Slot Overview
5 Tombs of Fortune is a desert-set Egyptian adventure slot from Relax Gaming, and it combines a huge number of mechanics, from a shifting reel grid, Powerup modifiers, expanding reels, free spins, symbol upgrades, global multipliers… Need we say more? It’s also got a solid maximum win potential of 10,000x. Still, is there too much going on here? The Demoslot team investigates.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
5 Tombs of Fortune is designed around a five-reel, four-row layout, although the grid size can increase during the feature. There are no paylines, as a ways-to-win mechanic is used, and you can bet between €0.20 and €100 per spin. The game boasts a 96.10% RTP.
Now, one of the game’s key mechanics is the 1×1 Pre-Spin Reel. At any point in the base game, a special symbol can land here before the reels spin. The shown Powerup is then applied to that specific spin. The modifiers include:
- Between 1-8 additional Wilds are added to the grid.
- A global win multiplier between 2x and 15x is applied to any wins.
- A symbol upgrade converts low-value symbols into medium ones.
- The grid height increases up to a maximum of 7 rows.
Now, the game also has a Free Spins bonus, triggered by landing Scarab Scatters on reels 1 and 5. The position where the Scarab lands matters, as it determines the type of bonus you get.
There are Wild Free Spins, where a random number between 1 and 8 is chosen to determine how many Wilds are added at random positions each spin, while the Global Multiplier Free Spins applies a random multiplier of 2x-15x to all wins during the feature.
Then, there’s Symbol Upgrade Free Spins, which sees each Scarab removing the lowest-paying symbol currently on the reels. Next is Reel Expansion Free Spins, which sees the reels growing by +1 row each time a Scarab lands. Finally, there’s Super Free Spins, which awards all four random features together, for a total of 10 free games.
Bonus Buy
5 Tombs of Fortune also includes two Bonus Buy options. Standard Free Spins cost 60x, while Super Free Spins cost 300x.

Theme & Design
Relax Gaming keeps the presentation of 5 Tombs of Fortune clean, modern, and warm, and it’s actually quite a visually appealing game. It’s pretty much as “Relax Gaming” as it gets, so don’t expect the most detail-orientated design, but it does the job.
The game’s symbols include a mixture of playing card values, including 9, 10, jack, queen, king, and ace, and the high-value symbols are theme-specific, including the Eye of Horus, an Anubis, and other Egyptian-inspired symbols. If you enjoy Egyptian-themed slots, whether that’s the iconic Book of Dead or adventure-themed games like Lucy Luck and the Temple of Mysteries, then 5 Tombs of Fortune is probably up your alley.
Pros
- Pre-Spin Powerups are quite unique.
- Five different Free Spins bonuses.
- Tons of bonus mechanics in base game + bonuses.
Cons
- Wins are pretty much dependent on features landing.
- Super Free Spins is expensive at 300x.
- Bonus Buy options unavailable in some regions.
Final Thoughts
5 Tombs of Fortune isn’t the most innovative game we’ve ever seen, but it’s a nice little addition to Relax Gaming's portfolio. We like how the studio has taken a theme that, let’s be honest, is incredibly overdone and found a way to make it somewhat original.
We like the Powerup mechanics too. They work really nicely with the Pre-Spin Reel, and while it’s, again, not the most innovative invention in the world, it works, and there are quite a lot of “what could happen here” moments in the base game.
Yes, it’s volatile, and yes, the base game can be dead. Still, it’s a fun little game, and with a maximum win potential of 10,000x, it offers more than what many Egyptian-themed slots do today! So, if you like feature-packed games and don’t mind the volatility, then 5 Tombs of Fortune is definitely one to check out!
