Game Overview
Whether the inspiration is Indiana Jones or Lara Croft, who hasn’t imagined being an explorer and uncovering ancient mysteries and priceless artefacts? I know I sure have, and when titles like the Octoplay slot 5 Golden Relics Hold & Win hit my inbox, I know it’s going to make me geek out later and have to get on the Discovery Channel for my fix of ancient legends and lost treasures.
Anyway, back to the task in hand, and if you’re willing to take a chance and explore a slot with two bonus rounds to trigger and a max win of 5,110x, then you’ll want to saddle up and join me in the full review of 5 Golden Relics.
Theme & Design
Given my introduction, I don’t think the theme is going to take much working out, with perhaps the one shock being that the game isn’t based in Egypt. Instead, we’re taken to an overgrown jungle somewhere in the world where an old abandoned Mayan temple can be seen in the background. Yes, I know, not exactly anything overly new with the theme, but it has been well executed by Octoplay, so kudos for that.
The online slot scene is bustling with ancient civilisation-themed games, so going through our slot types or using our search bar will bring you dozens of titles to play if you want to rummage around the niche further. I’ll never leave you hanging for a new slot to play though, so if 5 Golden Relics isn’t for you, head over to Aztec Clusters from BGaming or Aztec Gems Megaways from Pragmatic Play and see if those resonate with you any better.

5 Golden Relics Gameplay & Features
Octoplay has opted for a 5×4 reel configuration in their 5 Golden Relics slot; along with a below-par RTP of 95.71%, the game features 20 fixed paylines throughout. Players can join the game from just €0.10 a spin, with the max stake reaching €100 for those with deeper pockets.
Okay, onto the features, and there’s not much to report on in the base game, with no random modifiers or bonuses able to trigger. On the plus side, that leaves more RTP for the bonus rounds, and we’ll kick those off with the free spins feature, triggered when 3 scatter symbols land in view. During this round, the middle reel becomes a full reel wild starting with a win multiplier of x1. Each new spin will then see it increment by a further +1, with a max limit of 10x possible.
The second bonus round is the Hold & Win feature, activated at random in the base game when a cash or bonus symbol lands or by hitting a combination of six or more of them at once. Once active, along with cash symbols, the five modifiers at the top of the reels can also land and trigger. You’ll begin with 3 respins, which will reset back to 3 each time a new symbol lands within the playfield. The feature will end when you hit 3 consecutive losing spins.
Bonus Buy
There are a couple of enhanced betting options in 5 Golden Relics for you to activate if you wish. These are:
- Double Feature: Toggle on for double the chance of hitting a bonus – Costs an extra 60% on top of the bet.
- Hold & Win Feature: Costs 80x the bet to trigger.
Pros
- Both free spins and a hold & win feature can be triggered.
- The bonus buy is only 80x the bet.
- 5 modifiers can trigger in the bonus.
Cons
- Low RTP.
- The max win could have been higher.
- Yet another game in 2025 with the hold & win bonus.
5 Golden Relics Hold & Win Slot Review Final Thoughts
The amount of games released in the hold & win genre in 2025 is incredible, with so many slot providers jumping on this bandwagon and most of the time releasing fairly generic content which has been seen time and time again but with a slight tweak or twist on a feature or theme.
I've said in the past that this makes the games almost impossible to score, as they are more or less identical one way or another. So, my usual advice stands for 5 Golden Relics. Give our demo a good play, see if you like it, and if not, go to our navigation bar and our dedicated page to this slot niche, where you'll find 100s of other titles to play.
