Game Overview
3 Pots O’ Riches Megaways is the next Blueprint Gaming slot to use Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic, and this time, it brings together everything we’ve seen before: JackpotKing Deluxe progressive jackpots, Megaways mechanics, Irish-themed gameplay, progression trails… with so much familiarity, is it worth a spin? Let’s find out.
Theme & Design
If there’s one theme we haven’t ever seen before in the online gambling world, it’s Irish/Leprechaun-themed games… OK, yes, we’re obviously joking. This is, by far, the most common theme, and whether it’s old school classics like Rainbow Riches or more modern titles like Clover Ladybug and Rainbow Mania, there are, literally, hundreds if not thousands of Irish-inspired slots.
That, of course, hasn’t stopped Blueprint Gaming, who are known as being one of the most prolific developers of the theme, and they’re following up their 5 Pots O’ Riches release with 3 Pots O’ Riches Megaways, a game that, clearly, licenses Big Time Gaming’s Megaways engine.
Visually, the game looks like any other Irish-inspired video slot ever made. You’ll see the reels lined in gold, floating above a backdrop containing green shrubbery, mushrooms, and golden pots above the reels. It looks OK, but it’s certainly not original, and many players will likely roll their eyes when they load it up.

3 Pots O’ Riches Megaways Gameplay & Features
3 Pots O’ Riches Megaways is, of course, played using BTG’s Megaways mechanic, which means each of the game’s six reels can display 2-5 symbols per row. However, there’s no top row, so the maximum number of potential Megaways is 15,625,000x. You can wager between €0.10 and €25 per spin, and the game’s RTP is set at 92.5%, which is normal for a progressive jackpot slot.
At its core, the game revolves around the Collect mechanic, which is active on reels 1 and 6 when you begin playing. Cash Prize symbols can land on any reel. Landing one or more Collect symbols alongside them triggers the feature.
The Collect symbol expands to cover its reel and gathers all visible cash values. Each time this happens, it advances you one step along the Unlock Trail, which is a progression mechanic that gradually introduces new features and modifiers as you play. These include:
- Streak Collect: Keeps all cash symbols sticky while the reels respin, continuing until no new prizes land.
- Expand Collect: Expands the reels with cash symbols until they’re fully covered.
- Respin Collect: After collecting prizes, all non-Collect reels respin up to five times, allowing you to collect more wins.
- Match Collect: Upgrades all visible cash values to match the highest one on the screen.
- Wishing Well Symbol: Adds together all visible cash values before collecting.
- Leprechaun’s Treasure Pots: Unlocks special coloured bonus symbols tied to three treasure pots: red, green, and blue. Each treasure pot has its own bonus.
Now, there’s also a base game modifier called “You Lucky Mate” which can trigger randomly. When it does, one of several modifiers can be awarded. Hidden treasure converts a random number of symbols into Cash or Wishing Well symbols, Bonus Boost adds bonus symbols to the reels, Fireworks Blast randomly upgrades symbols into high value symbols or wilds, and Dig In removes symbols and drops new ones down for a guaranteed win.
Remember those three coloured pots we mentioned earlier? Well, they also have their own features. The Red Pot guarantees you Max Megaways for the following spin, the Blue Pot clears all symbols from the reels bar Collect and Cash Prize values, and the Green Pot adds a multiplier of between 3x and 20x.
Finally, there’s the game’s main bonus round, which is triggered by landing 3+ bonus symbols in view. Doing so awards 10 bonus spins. During this feature, any unlocked feature (from the base game) remains active. You’ll also want to be on the lookout for the Collect symbols, as each time you collect three, you unlock additional free spins and a multiplier of up to 10x.
If you reach the end of the trail, you’ll activate Enhanced Bonus Spins, where up to three Leprechaun’s Treasure Pots can trigger at the same time, awarding Super, Mega, or Ultra Bonus Spins. These rounds start with all possible modifiers unlocked, for maximum win potential!
Jackpot King Progressive Jackpot
Finally, 5 Pots O’ Luck Megaways includes Blueprint Gaming’s Jackpot King progressive system, which can trigger randomly on any spin. Once triggered, you need to collect Crown symbols to climb the prize ladder, and if you collect 20+, you’ll enter the main progressive jackpot wheel, where you can win one of three progressive jackpots or a fixed cash prize.
Pros
- Jackpot King Deluxe progressive jackpots are available.
- Unique Megaways mechanic.
- Plenty of different bonuses and features .
Cons
- Low maximum bet of €25.
- Below-average RTP of 92.5%.
- Very, very overdone theme.
3 Pots O' Riches Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
Like many of Blueprint’s recent releases, 3 Pots O’ Riches Megaways feels a bit like a crossroads between innovation and repetition. The base-game modifiers, “You Lucky Mate” and its random boosts, are pretty familiar for Blueprint Gaming fans, and you’ll have seen these in tens of slots, some from almost a decade ago! The addition of a progression trail adds something a little different, but even this can be alienating for players: some love it, while others feel it’s unfair and “steals” their RTP.
Of course, theme wise, the game plays safely. The Irish theme, with its pots of gold, green fields, and smiling leprechauns, has been done to death, and while Blueprint Gaming presents it well, it doesn’t feel fresh or visually unique in any way.
Also, we literally just finished reviewing another Blueprint Gaming release: The Goonies: Quest For Treasure 2, that uses an almost identical progression-based mechanic, so it really feels like both games were built from the same template, with slightly different mechanics.
It’s an entertaining game, and the addition of the Jackpot King progressive jackpot adds excitement, but there’s definitely nothing groundbreaking here, unfortunately.
