Slot Overview

3 Blades & Blessings is a medium-volatility slot from Play’n GO that introduces an unusual trio-coin mechanic and a total of five free spins modes. With multiple chest-based triggers, expanding reel sets, multipliers, and a maximum win potential of up to 4,000x, it looks like a semi-decent slot, but is it any good? Let’s find out!

Theme & Design

3 Blades & Blessings starts the action with a stunningly-designed loading screen where you’ll see Japanese temples set in front of a crisp purple sky. It’s definitely one of the better looking games we’ve seen Play’n GO pushing out for a while, and if you like some more atmospheric slots like Dark Lords or Japanese-inspired games like Sakura Fortune 2, this will be a game you’ll want to check out.

Once the main game loads, you’ll see that the reels themselves are set within a Japanese temple. It’s a very unique design, and Play’n GO has pulled it off incredibly well, we feel. Above the reels you’ll see the three core chests: Collect, Bonus, and Boost, and on the left-hand side of the reels you’ll see the game’s three localised jackpots.

3 Blades & Blessings Gameplay & Bonus Features

3 Blades & Blessings is played on a five-reel, three-row layout with 20 fixed paylines. You can bet between €0.10 and €100 per spin, and the game uses a 96.20% RTP maths model as its default setting. However, as is the case with all Play’n GO slots, lower RTP configurations are available, too.

Now, in the base game, coloured coins; green, purple, and red, can land on any reel. When they do, the coins are collected into the corresponding chest above the reels. When enough coins of a colour have been collected, their corresponding free spins mode activates.

Green coins unlock Collect Free Spins, where you receive 7 spins and can land prize coins worth 1x to 10x your bet, all of which are collected immediately. Purple coins unlock Boost Free Spins, which expand the reels to a 5×5 layout with 40 paylines with a 2x multiplier applied to all wins. Red coins trigger Bonus Free Spins, where a single bonus coin is guaranteed to land on every spin, awarding one of the three jackpots – Minor (20x), Major (50x), Grand (500x), or a +1 spin token.

If you manage to fill two coin types at once, you also trigger the Super Free Spins. This combines both mechanics and awards you with 7 free spins. There is also a Mega Free Spins feature, which is triggered if all three colours trigger together. Here, you get all three modifiers in play during the feature.

Section content….

  • Super and Mega Free Spins rounds are pretty exciting.
  • Fantastic design and theme; very atmospheric and well thought out.

Cons

  • The base game can feel quite slow.
  • No Bonus Buy mechanic.
  • Max win potential of 4,000x isn’t the best in the world.

3 Blades & Blessings Slot Review Final Thoughts

3 Blades & Blessings is one of Play’n GO’s best-looking slots, in our opinion. While their games are always developed to a high-quality, they’re not generally known for the same level of design detail as you’d see from providers like PRINT Studios or Red Tiger, but 3 Blades & Blessings looks to be changing that.

Now, sure, the game isn’t overly unique, that’s true. We’ve seen Play’n GO churning out a number of games with the three-chest-mechanic in the last couple of months, and most of these games are pretty much re-skins of each other. Still, the theme here is really strong, and the software provider has done an excellent job, we feel.

We also like the fact that there are so many different free spins modes. You have the three standard ones, then the Super, and Mega Free Spins features, and this offers not just decent win potential, but also pretty unique unpredictability. Sure, the maximum win potential of 4,000x isn’t the highest in the world, but for a medium variance game, it’s not bad - and if you’re a fan of Japanese-themed slots with local jackpots and collection-based chest mechanics, this is one to check out, we feel!
