Game Overview

Electric Avenue is an 80s-themed video slot from All41 Studios, a partner studio of Microgaming, that is set to take you back in time to an era of ghetto blasters, outstanding music, and, let’s say, some questionable fashion choices. As for a breakdown of the game stats, Electric Avenue is a 6-reel slot with 4,096 ways to win, an RTP of 95.49%, and a maximum win of 6,833x.

The slot has some fun features for you to experience, starting with the full reel wilds that can land in the base game, where up to two can appear at once with multiplier values of up to x5. Then, we have the stars of the show, which are the two bonus rounds you can choose from once you land three or more scatters in view. You have the option of picking free spins with sticky wilds, or you can opt for the free spins with an increasing full reel wild multiplier.

The more experienced online slot players among you will quickly realise that Microgaming has all but cloned the Big Time Gaming slot release Danger High Voltage with the creation of Electric Avenue. So, if you’ve liked playing that game in the past, it stands to reason you’ll be intrigued by what Microgaming has conjured up with their version here. Just on a side note, before we continue with this review, those who find this game resonates with them should check out the original BTG game along with its follow-up Danger High Voltage 2, which, whilst okay, isn’t a patch on the first title.

Next, we move to the pays section, where the highest-value symbol in the game is the Ghetto Blaster, awarding 25x the bet for a six of a kind win. This is followed by the Polaroid Camera returning 5x, the Sneakers and Rubik’s Cube sharing returns of 2x, and the Soda Can and Glasses completing the premium section with equal payouts of 1x.25 the bet for a winning combo of six. All that is left is the lower-paying symbols to tell you about, where you’ll find the Spade and Heart symbols paying 1x, and finally, the Club and Diamond symbols awarding 0.75x the bet for a winning connection of six.

Last, in this section, we come to the betting options. Players can choose to spin the reels on Electric Avenue from a minimum of €0.20 a spin up to a maximum of €30.

Base Game & Modifiers

Electric Avenue is played over a 6×4 reel configuration, with 4,096 ways to win active on every spin. Players need to land a minimum of three matching symbols (two for the Ghetto Blaster) for a win to be credited to their bankroll, starting from the leftmost reel first.

Full Reel Wilds

Electric Avenue includes full reel wilds, which can be very useful in helping to produce wins while you are playing the base game. They can land on any of the reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, where up to two wilds can simultaneously feature a multiplier of up to x5.

Electric Avenue Slot Bonus Features

You can choose from two bonus features on Electric Avenue, but first, you will need to trigger the free spins. To do this, you will need three or more scatter symbols to land anywhere in view; the more scatters you land, the greater the cash prize you will receive.

So let’s look at each of the bonus features in more detail.

Neon Free Spins

If you choose the neon free spins bonus round, you will be awarded 10 free spins to begin the feature with. The goal during this bonus is for a wild reel to land on reels 2, 3, 4, or 5. If it does and is part of a winning combination, it will turn into a wild wheel.

The wild wheel will begin to spin and stop on x11, x22, x33, x44, or x55. Whichever value the wheel stops at, that multiplier will be applied to any wins the wild is a part of. Re-triggers can take place if 3 or more scatter symbols once again land anywhere in view.

Electric Free Spins

Selecting the electric free spins will award you 7 free spins to begin the bonus. But before the feature starts, a big reel will spin and stop on one of the symbols on the paytable. This symbol will then become your sticky wild for the duration of the bonus.

Once underway, you will note that a grid has formed on the reels that covers all positions across reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. If your selected symbol lands within that grid, it will turn into a wild symbol and remain sticky for the remainder of the bonus.

Additional free spins can be awarded during this feature, and to achieve them, you will need to complete a full row with wilds. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with 3 extra spins, with a maximum amount of 12 spins in re-triggers up for grabs during this bonus.

Pros

  • It uses mechanics from a previously released slot that was very popular.
  • A theme that is not overly used in iGaming.
  • The multiplier wilds in the base game can award big wins.

Cons

  • Low RTP.
  • The max win is also low at 6,833x.
  • A clone of Danger High Voltage.

Electric Avenue Slot Review Final Thoughts

It's pretty plain to see that you're basically just playing Danger High Voltage but with a different theme. However, for those familiar with DHV, you will notice that the multiplier can't reach the same value on Electric Avenue during the neon free spin bonus, maxing out at x55, whereas DHV can reach x66.

Base game wild multipliers also slightly differ, with a x5 wild being the max that can land on Electric Avenue and only up to two multiplying wilds in one spin. Meanwhile, DHV can land 3 multiplying wilds that are x6 in value.

In summary, Electric Avenue is a decent clone of Danger High Voltage, but it falls a little short with regard to the pays. However, if you love DHV, this is certainly worth a go to see the game play out in a different theme.
