Today we’re chatting with Craig Asling, Director of Games at Booming Games about their Irish-themed slot Lucky Charms Trio
Q1. From a development standpoint, what were some of the biggest creative or technical challenges the team faced while bringing Lucky Charms Trio to life?
One of the key challenges was ensuring that the triple pot “Trio” structure felt intuitive while still offering depth. When you introduce multiple feature behaviours within a single bonus, there’s always a risk of overcomplicating the experience, so we spent a lot of time refining how those elements interact and are presented to the player.
From a technical standpoint, balancing the different coin effects, multipliers, boosts and collect mechanics within a respin framework required careful tuning to ensure consistency and fairness. Creatively, it was about making sure the theme and features felt fully aligned. We didn’t want the Irish theme to feel purely cosmetic; it needed to enhance the overall experience and give the game a strong identity.

The mechanics and gameplay need to have lasting appeal so that the title continues to perform after the event itself.
When done right, seasonal releases can create strong initial engagement while still delivering long-term value for operators.
